Legends & Surfer Pets Series 3

Born Alaska. With 50 degree water, grew up on winter sports. While Cody loved downhill and cross country skiing, he excelled at snowboarding. Met an Alaskan surfer on a heliport trip in late spring to Alyeska to do some skiing. Intrigued by the thought of surfing, he studied Voss Victoria, the renowned European river surfer. Went to Florida for a winter holiday, hooked up with Sumatra Sam who taught him the basics. Sam saw Cody was a natural, encouraged him to pursue it. Cody realized warmer weather would be even better. Moved to Siargao, where his talent did the rest. Crowds call him "Cloud 9" because he gets serious airtime. Sky is always with him, surfing or not.

Born and raised in Cocoa Beach. Rarely, if ever, leaves Florida—willing to make the occasional exception for great waves elsewhere. An interesting fellow who has led quite the life having been an astronaut, pro golfer, world famous theme park critic, and hurricane chaser (who stays on to help restore affected communities). For beachgoers willing to hear him out, he has many, many stories. They never seem to be quite sure of all his exploits. Promethei Paula swears they’re all true. No one can deny, however, that Moe really was the guy behind the headline, “FLORIDA MAN SURFS WITH GATOR!”

Born Justis Jeremiah Jawson to a humble shiver of sharks. Grew up a quiet pup with few thoughts of ever leaving the ocean until he saw a blue shark sporting shades surfing right above him! Realized that was none other than the legendary protector of Panama Bay, Mako P.I. Learned everything he could from his new idol. Determined to follow in his wake, took everything that he learned in school and started his own beach law practice. Styling himself as “Jaws Justice,” his firm, JJ&J Law, is now the largest and fiercest anywhere. His success gives him plenty of time to enjoy surfing all around the world, searching for great waves and his next office location.

Mantra: “If court’s not in session, then surf’s in session!” 
Home Break: Curly always picks a beach with a boardwalk—“can’t figure out why” 
Fave Surf Spot: “Opening my next office location…on a beach, of course”

When Not Surfing: Reading evidence on paper, not easy with fins or in the surf (“go ahead, you try it”)
Advice for groms: “Don’t litter, Curly and I will find you and bring you to justice!”

Born Atlantis. Her sister Luna inspired her to head out on her own. Quickly met her true love—surfing, but had much trouble figuring out how to use a surfboard given her tail and fins. Like her sister, Luna, eventually settled on longboards as her preference. Now on a quest to prove fins and tails are no obstacle to radical surfing. Longed for a companion like her sister Luna’s Astra. As luck would have it, found Crystal when trying to find Astra to seek advice on finding a surfing partner. Unknown to Pearl, her long-time admirer, Crystal, joined her pronto and has been of great use in navigating this strange human world.

Born Cocoa Beach, daughter of Sumatra Sam and Bali Bobbi. With Sam and Bobbi as parents, was surfing before she could walk. Quickly conquered the waves on Florida’s east coast. Wanted more. Convinced her Mom to let her head to the west coast and live with Surf City Sally. While Sally nicknamed her after Supertubes, found she still wanted more. A mother daughter trip to J-Bay, with a side trip to Supertubos in Portugal, sealed her love of big waves. Swell is her constant companion and helps her scout the waters. Her life’s mission is to set the record for the tallest wave ever surfed. Knows it will likely be at Nazaré; still working her way up to it.

Born Tahiti. Traces her family all the way back to the very first surfers. Legend has it that those surfers learned to surf from a strange green dinosaur. Of course, sightings in recent years of two dinosaurs surfing make the legend very believable. Caught up with Rincon Rex and Santa Cruz. Never thought a cat, okay saber tooth tiger, but still cat-like, would surf. Opened Nikki’s eyes to the possibility of finding a surfing cat. Loved videography as a youngster. One day, found Meowi wandering near the water’s edge in Māhina. Quickly adopted Meowi. Quickly helped her combine both of her passions into one spectacular video and made Meowi a social media sensation!

Born millions of years ago in what would later be known as Tofino. A popular professor at Dino U., taught courses in meteorology. Everything changed with the Ice Age, which he failed to predict costing him his tenure. Forced him to take up new hobbies…ice surfing, ice fishing, ice sculpting—there wasn’t much else to do, though he did find time to invent ice cream! When the Ice Age finally ended, set out on a quest to find his cousin Rincon. Encountered some humans but they ran from him in awe of his larger size. Befriended a turtle when Coral crawled onto his surfboard and refused to ever leave. An inseparable pair, they surf everywhere, but dislike cold water…wonder why?

Home Break: Rincon, “but I don’t understand why I never see Rincon Rex there, I thought it was named after him!”
